DJ Thoka

You Make Me Feel So Goood is the first release of DJ Thoka (Rough Trade). The track goes straight through the roof, reaching top positions in the German dance charts, not least because of brilliant mixes by Interactive, Chill’n'Force and Wippenberg

Follow-up single What Is …? is an equally successfull chart conqueror with another Wippenberg remix on the vinyl and cd release.

Following these successes there are remixes for well-known acts like General Base, Magnetic Pulsar, Kosmonova, Mr. President, Interactive, Perplexer and DJ Quicksilver.

Next release is Party People/The One on the successfull Dos or Die lable (Krefeld) which is another full-blown hit that has enthusiastic crowds rocking the clubs.
Followed single Keep It Alive/Don’t Stop Me also, you guessed it, reaches top positions in the dance charts.

After an interval as lable manager at Netrecord-Z, DJ Thoka is back on the creative front of the business.

First result is a new 2003 version of his hit You Make Me Feel So Goood which is a co-production with Austria’s top producers Taylor & Flow. The record shot straight into all dance charts and the track, both original and fantastic remixes, got sensational responses everywhere.

Next up is the March 2004 release of G&T – Pullover vs. Close Your Eyes, first on Attacke then on Underdog Records. The track is a co-production combining the talents of Thoka and Gino Montesano, one of the masterminds behind top act Aquagen. Reaching the top five of all relevant dance charts, it just shows how successfull this collaboration is.

In May 2004 a new DJ Taylor & Flow vs. DJ Thoka track hits the streets: Happy Song, a remake of the Boney M. classic from the 80ies, reaches top positions in the dance charts and is also released in various countries such as Italy, Japan, Russia and Taiwan.

Thoka also produces energy driven trance monster DJ Black vs. 1-0-1What …? that causes a sensation on dancefloors all over Germany.

December 2004 sees the release of C-Base meets DJ Thoka Into A Fantasy on brand new lable Tigers & Tomatoes. With brilliant dance chart positions (amongst them No. 1 in Switzerland) and releases in many territories, Into A Fantasy is (not least because of the fantastic CJ Stone vs. Mr. Phillips Remix) yet another example in a long row of successfull tracks.

In 2006 he released the project Here & NowBizarre Love Triangle, a remake of the famous New Order Hit on Dos Or Die Records and made a great remix for Sami Dee & Freddy Jones vs Crystal WatersGypsy Woman
2007 brings the release of the Royal Gigolos single Tell it to my heart, which is a big success in the dance charts all over the world and his actual DJ Thoka Single Pullover together with Hypertrophy.

Hypertrophy

In 1995 the project Hypertrophy was brought into being by production team Thorsten “DJ Thoka” Kaiser & Stefan Heinemann, when they had to come up quickly with a project name for the 4 the world EP production. The record was a total flop and the name was abandoned for the time being. In 1997 the project was reactivated, this time with DJ Thorsten “Thoka” Kaiser, singer/dancer Mona Küpper and rapper/dancer Steven Wilson.

The track Just come back 2 me surpassed all expectations and didn’t only do really well in the dance charts but also reached the German sales charts.
It didn’t stop there but went on to break international dance charts in England, Italy, Spain, BeNeLux and especially France, where it reached No. 1 in the dance charts and also left it’s mark in the sales charts.

In the same year follow-up single Beautiful Day also secured top positions in the dance charts and reached the sales charts like it’s predecessor.

It also made things happen for Hypertrophy over the big pond whenTommy Boy Silver released the track in the USA with overwhelming results. The track peaked at No. 2 in the Billboard Dance Charts – only Madonna could keep Hypertrophy from the No. 1 spot.
American cult producer Junior Vasquez was so enthusiastic about the track that he produced a remix for the American release.

1998 saw the release of third single Eternal Flames with sensational remixes from Olav BasoskiJohn B. Norman and once again Junior Vasquez and charity record United DJ..s for Central America with the track Too Much Rain. In a collaboration with DJ Red 5 Hypertrophy created a mix that all the other producers liked so much, it was voted to become the main mix.

In the following year the fourth production (not counting the not quite so glorious 4 the world EP) Pullover (a coverversion of the Speedy J classic tune) was released. By this time Steven Wilson had left the group and was replaced by singer/dancer Ilona Hagens. Pullover quickly developed into a full-blown club smash that reached top positions in all dance charts. It was also yet another Hypertrophy production that reached the German sales charts.

In 2000 there was only a US release of Just come back 2 me, apart from that, activities around Hypertrophy quietly died down …

But then, from mid 2005 the success story continues!
With new fantastic mixes of Just come back 2 me 2005 Hypertrophy are ready for another chart attack. The new mixes are (among others) by Warp BrothersNick StormCyclone One and DJ Thoka himself.

After a few remixes, Hypertrophy strikes back in 2008. The first big release is a remix for Funabashi pres. Saltwater – The Legacy 2.0 and in the moment, the next single is already in the pipeline so be sure to hear much more from Hypertrophy in the future!
